You’ll likely find the answer here. From the everyday to the occasionally obscure, we’ve pulled together the things people most often ask.
If you know someone that would get value out of what we do, you can refer that client to the client service team. If it turns out that we start working with them, we’ll pay you a reward for the referral. There’s a policy for this, check it out.

Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, chai… whatever you fancy in the Nous Kitchen. We’re fully stocked with water glasses, cups, plates, cutlery for you to use, or bring your own if you prefer. Biscuits and fruit are on the house, and we have breakfast stuff too — just try to be done before business hours.
Oh, and you’ll just know when the bar is open…
We usually take an hour for lunch, sometime between 12pm and 2pm depending on what you have on. You can BYO lunch from home if you like and pop it in one of the fridges. There’s a sandwich toaster, microwaves, and everything else you need in the kitchen. There’s also plenty of food options nearby if you want to pick something up. Feel free to join the banter around the lunch bench or pop on your headphones and have lunch al-desko if quiet time is in order. Fridays are popular for burgers and beers so keep your diary open!
Yes, generally business attire is required. If you know you won’t be client-facing today you can back it off a bit though.
Nous does not provide parking for staff, however Mandy can give you some information on local parking options.
Nous pays you monthly on the 15th of the month direct to your nominated bank account. This payment is for the calendar month in which the payment is made: the first 15 days in arrears and the remainder of the month in advance. We use Xero My Payroll and the XeroMe App where you can view your pay information and apply for leave. Talk to Mandy if you have any questions regarding your pay.
Yes, we do. His name is Don and he cleans our offices on Wednesday and Friday evenings. We have a team roster to cover the other days. We all clean up after ourselves in the kitchens and load our things into the dishwasher, look after our own workstations, and return meeting rooms to tidy after use. We have a cleaning stash too if you ever need it. See Mandy.
Get a receipt, complete an expense reimbursement form, give this to Mandy and we will pay by EFT to your bank account. We also reimburse trips for Nous business where you’ve used your own car, but this is a smidge more complicated. See Mandy for details.
We’re all for streamlining our processes and improving the way we do things. Discuss this with your manager first, and we can take it from there.
You’re entitled to 20 days annual leave a year. Some of this time has to be taken over the Christmas/New Year period when Nous is closed. This depends when the public holidays fall but we will let you know ahead of time so you can make plans. So that we can cover our bases with clients, give us as much notice as possible, especially for longer holidays. Check out the holiday calendar for a heads up on who has already booked leave. To apply, jump onto the XeroMe App and apply there. Please feel free to discuss plans with your manager at any time too.
We have helped with wedding stationery and special event invites from time to time, but this largely depends on workload and the nature of your request. Let’s see if we can help when it pops up.
If it’s just a few minutes, that’s fine. We all know the perils of traffic and public transport. If it’s a longer delay, then please let your manager know as soon as you can. A quick text in this instance is fine. Just let us know when you expect to arrive so we know you’re OK and can plan around it.
Tell your manager, a director or the office manager straight away and we will arrange medical assistance for you. Nous has Workcover insurance for injuries at work so we will look after any claim on your behalf.
Let your manager know as soon as you can and provide details of your absence i.e: the reason for your absence, how long you expect to be away. Have a chat with your manager about their preferred way for you to let them know — by text, email or phone call. If you are away on Friday or Monday, or for a period of two days or more, HR will need a doctor’s certificate.
Discuss this with your manager so we can plan for your absence and give as much notice as possible.
Our official business hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm but reception is usually open from 8am and it’s likely there’ll be someone around from 7.30am. We keep the front door locked when reception is unattended for security. Office keys are provided to staff on an as–needed basis. If you need to start early, work late or on a weekend, discuss these extended hours with your manager first. Ideally, don’t stay in the office alone, and text your manager when leaving. If you find yourself working past 7pm, please take an Uber home and charge this to the Nous Business Account. As part of your onboarding, we will be provide the Nous Uber policy and an invitation to join our Account.
Of course not! This is just a taste of the delicious banquet of policy documentation available. There’s plenty more where this came from. Mandy is able to provide unabridged documents as required.
